NEW Race Steward
Seems like it was just yesterday, but the 2015 race season came to an end months ago. There were a lot of changes at Adams County Speedway in 2015, and we’d like to thank all of those who helped make 2015 a successful season. We’d also like to thank the fans, drivers, teams, and sponsors for their patience as we had many volunteers taking on new responsibilities throughout the season. There were certainly a lot of things learned throughout the 2015 race season, and we are very excited to take that experience forward to the 2016 race season. So thank you to all for a great 2015 season!
Now to prepare for the future! After much time discussing the direction of the track and interviewing potential candidates for a Chief Race Steward we have come to a decision that will put ACS in a position for continued success as well as prepare for the foreseeable future. We are pleased to announce that Jim Wilson will be the new Chief Race Steward. Jim brings with him a vast amount of experience in running Late Model touring series. He directed the NASCAR Late Model Touring Series for 17 years, and went on to start his own series with the WORLD Dirt Racing League for an additional 8 years. The experience Jim will bring to ACS is countless. We hope you will be as excited as we are to have Jim’s experience at ACS!!!
Throughout the process we also came across two other candidates in which we thought could benefit from Jim’s experience. So that being said, we have also decided to bring them on board so Jim could mentor them as potential future Chief Race Stewards. Those two individuals are Les Helvie and Josh Russell. Les is from Corning and has a background in racing and a family that has been very involved with the track over the years. Josh also has considerable background in racing, both from the tech side and the Director side. Although much of his background hasn’t been on the circle track side of racing we feel Josh will be a fast learner and that both these gentlemen will greatly benefit from being able to work alongside someone with Jim’s wealth of knowledge.
Rather than keep everyone waiting we wanted to get this information released immediately. We’ll look to provide some additional background on all 3 gentlemen in the near future so everyone can have the same opportunity to get to know them as we have!!! As of this release we do not have a flagman, but have been in conversations and feel like we’ll be able to come to an agreement soon now that we have confirmed Jim Wilson as Chief Race Steward.
Thank you for your patience….and please do not forget to buy your tickets for the 2015 Race Banquet on January 16th, 2016, at the Cass Community building in Atlantic, IA. This will be a great opportunity to meet Jim and his team, as well as celebrate a successful 2015 and kickoff 2016 with some excellent entertainment and a great meal!!! That information will be released soon!
